CSCI 180 Homework 1

1. Install Java and BlueJ on your own machine.
1. Install J2SE 1.5 SDK, available at http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp (download JDK 5.0 Update 14 and accept all the defaults to install)
2. Install blueJ from http://www.bluej.org/download/download.html (again accept all defaults as you install)
2. You'll also need to put the projects directory on your computer. (available here)
3. Work through sections 1.1 - 1.8 in the text (available here if you do not yet have your text). Write down your answers to the following (and bring to class on Wednesday):
1. 1.5 (what happens?)
2. 1.6
3. 1.9
4. Start an electronic record of vocabulary terms (just start a Word or text document). Also keep one for errors you receive. (e.g. the response from 1.6)
