I absolutely loved this course! (even raved about it in the dorm!)
It did expose me to new ideas and ways of thinking outside the box that I had never considered before.
It's pretty amazing how far we all came along. We created our own conjectures, ways and views of thinking about Mathematics...
For me, this class was about opening your mind using mathematics. I can relate this process to other things outside of class. It's more of a critical thinking course.
This course showed an eternal loather of math that ... math can be creative and does have its kinda cool points!
I really liked the way all of the readings were integrated with the math itself. The atmosphere of the class was exciting and ENERGETIC!
I honestly felt smarter after class was over.
The skills that I learned about thinking outside the box and about trying every possible solution without being discouraged will be applied to many things in my life.
...even though I still think this will be my last math course, a good one to finish with.
I understand now that math isn't just the stuff I have been taught my entire life. It has some pretty interesting people and things going on in it.
I see and understand more in a lot of my readings for other classes.
To be honest, this class has pushed me farther and intrigued me more than any of my other classes.
This class did a great job of explaining the whys and hows of math.
had no idea this kind of math actually existed and was thrilled to know it did.
To me this class was not simply about different dimensions, theories, ideals, perspectives, formulas, or even about work. It was about thought, knowledge, and, even wisdom.
The course... is the best math course I have taken yet.
I could take a course like this every semester.
This class helped me "get" math.
I used to hate math and now I see much of its beauty.
My perceptions changed greatly, where I came into this course thinking all mathematics courses were boring, dry, and unenjoyable. This class has proven me wrong... I thoroughly enjoyed it
I learned that mathematics does not just involve numbers and can in fact be interesting and fun.
Although I have had many other math classes previous to this one, this was the first time in my life that I learned to truly think in a mathematical way.
I ... know I'd have better odds to get on "Jeopardy!" after this course.
I was challenged to really step out of normal thinking in order to make sense of the class, which in return has helped me with other classes.
I still hate algebra and so on but I love the view this class took on math.
LOVED the broad range of topic!
This was the first class I have taken at Xavier that has opened my eyes to such intriguing concepts as a fourth dimension, breaking codes, and being able to finally understand a proof and theorem.
My idea of mathematics has been exploded into completely new systems. My critical thinking has improved with new ideas to evaluate.
I was exposed to completely different styles of learning math, and interesting and out of the ordinary properties of math I would never have previously known about...
Q: What did you like least about the course?
A: That it is over!
